South Wales - The Vale of Glamorgan

6 day holiday - Monday 29th April 2024 - SOLD OUT

Highlights...

Pretty Woman at the Wales Millennium Centre

Aberglasney Gardens
Brecon Mountain Steam Railway

A country strongly defended by high mountains, deep valleys and extensive woods, rivers and marshes, Wales is one of the five Celtic nations of the United Kingdom. With its fascinating scenery, magnificent castles and colourful coastal towns, South Wales is the beautiful destination for our Spring holiday. Situated on the Bristol Channel on the South coast of Wales, the area in which we will stay boasts a mild temperate climate but does have a lot of rain! Staying at the four-star Delta by Marriott Swansea Hotel in Swansea Bay, we are ideally placed to visit areas in and around both Cardiff and Swansea. The hotel has dramatic views of Swansea Bay and is a short stroll from the town centre, the marina and seafront, ideal for exploring these areas during our free time. Cardiff, the capital of Wales, is the largest city in the country, closely followed by Swansea, which became a city in 1969, to mark the investiture of the now King Charles III, as Prince of Wales. The area of Cardiff Bay, formerly known as Tiger Bay, and Swansea Bay is home to several of Wales’ most famous people including the singer, Dame Shirley Bassey, poet and writer, Dylan Thomas, actress, Catherine Zeta Jones CBE and the former rugby star Billy Boston MBE. During our stay in Swansea, we will be visiting the Wales Millennium centre to see a performance of ‘Pretty Woman’, Aberglasney Gardens, LLancaich Fawr Manor, Penderyn Distillery, to include a distillery tour and whisky tasting, the Brecon Mountain Steam Railway and the Cyfartha Castle Museum and Art Gallery. We will also be taking a relaxing boat trip around Cardiff Bay and its environs.
