Le Nozze de Figaro at Garsington Opera
River cruise from Maidenhead to Windsor
Tour & Tasting at the Windsor & Eton Brewery
Founded in 1989 by the late Leonard Ingrams and his wife, Garsington Opera was originally staged at Garsington Manor. In 2011, Garsington Opera moved to the Wormsley Estate, home of the Getty family. Situated in the rolling countryside of the Chilterns, the International Summer Festival is presented in a specially designed seasonal opera pavilion from which it is possible to view the surrounding landscape. Evening dress is suggested, along with some warm layers to put on as the evening cools. Dinner will be served during the long interval in the glass fronted restaurant with stunning views over the countryside. This luxurious holiday will also take us on a river cruise from Maidenhead to Windsor, descending through the locks at Boveney and Bray and taking in stunning views of Windsor Castle, with a commentary throughout. In Windsor itself, we will have a guided tour and tasting session at the Windsor and Eton Brewery and a chocolate making session at Dr Choc’s Chocolate factory to include refreshments; prosecco or a hot drink!
Sarova Bull Hotel 4*

The hotel offers quiet spacious bedrooms, many with beautiful views over the gardens or the conservation area; all have en-suite facilities with walk in shower, bathrobes, luxury toiletries and tea and coffee making facilities. Bedrooms are located on the first and second floors, all accessible by lifts. The restaurant offers a wide range of top-quality food using fresh local ingredients where possible.
Itinerary
Day 1 – Friday 28th June
Brought by chauffeur-driven car to the Bull Hotel, you will be greeted by your Tour Manager, who will be available for you throughout your stay. We will enjoy lunch at the Bull Hotel before checking into our rooms and having time to prepare for our visit to the Garsington Opera. On arrival at the Wormsley Estate, we will have time to look around the beautiful gardens, before finding our front stalls seats for the opera, ‘Le Nozze de Figaro’. During the long interval, we will experience Wormsley’s fine dining with wine, in the beautiful surroundings of the glass fronted Wormsley restaurant. Looking out over the iconic Wormsley Cricket Ground, the restaurant boasts one of the most stunning views in Britain.
Day 2 – Saturday 29th June
Following a leisurely breakfast in the hotel restaurant, we will board the coach for the short trip to Maidenhead Pier, ready to embark the boat for our trip to Windsor. We will have a commentary along the route, passing the houses of the stars, descending through locks and passing Monkey Island, before arriving at Windsor Pier with stunning views of the castle. After disembarking from the boat, we will take a very short walk to the Sir Christopher Wren hotel on the Windsor riverbank for a light lunch, before boarding the coach to the Windsor and Eton Brewery, where we are booked in for a tour and tasting session. The coach will then take us back to the Bull Hotel where we will have time to relax before our three-course dinner in the hotel restaurant.
Day 3 – Sunday 30th June
On our final morning, we will check out of our rooms after breakfast and store our luggage with the concierge, before boarding the coach to travel back into Windsor. Here we will have a ‘Chocolatier’ experience at the Dr Choc’s Windsor chocolate factory and shop. This experience includes instruction in making your own chocolate of various types and there will be time to enjoy refreshments in the first-floor café. Please note that there is no lift available at Dr Choc’s to get to the café; visitors have to use the stairs. After our Chocolatier experience, we will return to the hotel for our farewell two course lunch before our door to door cars arrive to take us home.
