Garsington Opera
'The importance of being Earnest'
3 day Holiday - Friday 17th July 2026
Highlights...
- ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’
- Windsor Castle Private Tour
- Runnymede Boat Trip
Due to consecutive years of overwhelming popularity we will again return to Wormsley Estate, home of the Getty family, for the Garsington Opera. The estate has been home to Garsington Opera since 2011 after moving from its original location at Garsington House. The International Summer Festival is presented in a specially designed seasonal opera pavilion which allows views of the stunning, surrounding landscape. We will enjoy a performance of Gerald Barry’s opera ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’. Based on Oscar Wilde’s 1895 play of the same name, the opera was given its first fully staged performance in 2013. During our visit, we will experience the long interval dinner served in the glass-fronted restaurant with splendid views over the countryside. Evening dress is suggested, along with the addition of a warmer layer to add as the summer evening cools.
Adding to this luxurious holiday, we have secured an Out of Hours Private Tour of the State Apartments of the iconic landmark - Windsor Castle. Windsor is the oldest, occupied castle in the world and has been home to 40 monarchs since it was founded in the 11th century. During the experience, our slow-paced tour of this magnificent building will take us on a journey through one-thousand years of history led by knowledgeable experts. During our break we will also enjoy a boat trip on the Thames, taking in the sights of the Runnymede area up towards the Bells of Ouzeley and then return passing Memorials on a replica Victorian Paddle Steamer.
