Thursford Christmas Spectacular, the biggest Christmas show in the whole of Europe is back by popular demand. Winner of the Group Leisure and Travel Awards 2024 this event, in its 48th year, continues to be a magnificent spectacle not to be missed! This glorious show is a display of sensational dancers in glittering costumes, breathtaking scenery and marvellous music, and rivals any West End show drawing people from everywhere to see it! A fast-moving celebration with almost two hundred artists including singers, dancers and an orchestra combine to bring an eclectic mix of both seasonal and year-round favourites to life. This unique show offers so much variety and not a second of time is wasted during this jam-packed production that is guaranteed to get you in the festive spirit.

Along with the extravaganza of the Christmas Spectacular show, Thursford offers other attractions for you to enjoy and really light a spark to fuel your festive celebrations. Before the show, we will visit Fantasy Land’s Enchanted Journey of Light. You will walk through the magical land of polar bears, penguins, giant-sized teddy bears and seals in an enchanted setting, before stepping outside and immersing yourself in the breath-taking scenes of luminous sculptures that form the Lantern Light Extravaganza. The main building at Thursford houses a variety of ‘Olde-Worlde’ shops that sell Christmas gifts, toys, decorations and sweets as well as a restaurant, bar, café and ice-cream parlour and is where we will purchase our light-lunch to enjoy.


The Maids Hotel ★★★★
We will be staying at the 4-star Maids Head Hotel, known to be the oldest hotel in England is warm and welcoming with charm and character. The oldest parts, where you will dine, dates back to the 15th century, with the bar and snug being added in the late 16th century. It is situated opposite Norwich Cathedral and the city’s famous medieval Elm Hill. The hotel bedrooms have contemporary furnishings, en-suite bathrooms, hairdryers, satellite TV and tea and coffee making facilities. Room service is available 24 hours and there are lifts to most rooms. Kindly state when booking whether you require lift access. Please also note the hotel public area has small staircases throughout. The Wine Press Restaurant is an award-winning restaurant that offers simply prepared, delicious food. The three-course buffet dinner on both nights includes two glasses of house wine or soft drinks.
Itinerary
Day 1 – Monday 1st December
Arriving by door-to-door car at the Bull Hotel, you will be greeted by your tour manager who will be with you throughout the holiday. Coffee or tea with pastries will be served before we board the coach. We will stop for a light lunch at the Marygreen Manor Hotel, before continuing our journey to Norwich. We will stop at Norwich Castle, which is now a museum and art gallery, for a guided tour of the highlights. This medieval building in the City is home to some of the most outstanding collections of fine art, archaeology andnaturalhistory. Afterwards, there is a very short drive to the Maids Head Hotel, where we will check-in and have time to relax and settle in before dinner.



Day 2 – Tuesday 2nd December
We have time at leisure after breakfast, boarding the coach mid morning for the trip to Thursford arriving in time to enjoy Fantasy Land Building, before your Tour Manager will buy a sandwich lunch with tea or coffee to have before the performance. TheThursford Christmas Spectacular matinee features a full afternoon’s entertainment with non-stop singing, dancing, comedy and a superb festive atmosphere. Following the performance and before our departure we will return to Fantasy Land to delight in the outside Lantern Light Extravaganza. We will return to the hotel in time for dinner.
Day 3 – Wednesday 3rd December
After breakfast and check out, we will board the coach for our homeward journey. En route we stop at Ely Cathedral, a magnificent Norman Cathedral, built on the foundations of a 7th century monastery founded by a Saxon princess. We have a private part-seated guided tour of the Cathedral followed by refreshments and some free time to look around the Cathedral shop. Leaving Ely, we drive to the Marygreen Manor Hotel for our two-course farewell lunch before continuing on the last part of our journey to the Bull Hotel. Refreshments will be available, before the door-to-door cars arrive.
